Old Roof, Meet New Roof

A lot has happened in a week - we have windows for a start. And the roof finally was finished inbetween rainstorms. No leaks! And we have one other addition on the exterior...
After 95 years, the old roof had a bit of sagging around the edges (well, we all do as we get older). Of course, the young, new roof was perky and straight. After trying several ways to get the old and new to align, Brad fashioned some cedar brackets to support the old roof where it joins the new roof. Here are pictures of the two sides of the house where the roofs join. A matching set was made for the front for balance.

After 95 years?! Whoa, talk about durability! That roof must have gotten tougher and tougher as the years passed by. Though it is sagging a bit, it is amazingly tough to have gone through so much with just the help of some brackets for support. I’m sure that helped save a lot of money on repairs. =)

It already looks beautiful in the picture, but with a bit of painting and cleaning jobs, this will look way even better! So, how’s the entire house now? Hope your new roof will also last many years, so you won’t have to worry about repairs and replacements in the near future. To make this possible, make sure you regularly clean and maintain your roof. =)

I think it was a good idea to add cedar brackets, since these can further extend the lifespan of your roof. Maybe it’ll even reach more than a hundred! But you have to take extra care of it because, as you’ve mentioned, it is already sagging. Anyway, I assume that this exterior area is already painted with an appealing shade. Keep those good news coming! =)
